Youth Rugby

In the Spring of 2023, The Bruins runs the Ridge Meadows Rugby Youth Academy for boys and girls in the U16, and U18 age categories.  We train at 10am on Sundays at Telosky Stadium, Maple Ridge.  Find us on the grass rugby field!

We support the local development of school rugby programs and prepare players to compete in the Provincial Regional Championships.

Please contact the Youth Rep at youth@bruinsrugby.ca if interested and join us at Telosky Stadium on Sunday mornings at 10am.

FALL 2023 – Bruins will enter a U15 and U17 teams in the club league system.  Email youth@bruinsrugby.ca for information.


The Bruins are welcoming school boys and girls to come and join the club, as well as welcoming new players our wonderful game.  Honesty, humility and respect are our core values and our coaches ensure our youth players practice these values, both on and off the field.

BC Rugby runs Mainland youth rugby across the fall in the following format:

  • U14: 10 a side
  • U16: 10 a side
  • U18: 15 a side

Training and game times will be confirmed later in the summer, either Tuesday or Thursday evenings 7pm, plus games on weekends.

About training
Training will focus on the basics of rugby, fitness and learning the game.  Coaching focusses on safety, fun and development.  Our coaches have years of experience of playing rugby at a high level and have access to the latest in coaching resources and have completed the World Rugby: Rugby Ready course, and understand all of the safety protocols.

About games
Games will generally be against teams in the lower mainland with the odd tournament on Vancouver Island and/or the interior.  Teams we will play against could include (but not limited to): Abbotsford Rugby Club, Bayside Sharks, Capilano Rugby Club, Meralomas, Burnaby Rugby Club, United Rugby, Richmond Rugby Club, Langley Rugby Club, Brit-Lions Rugby, Surrey Beavers and Kamloops Rugby Club.
